The Center for Immigration Defense and Border Law

CIDBL

Do you have a loved one who is in immigration detention in the United States who is seeking asylum, withholding of removal, or relief under the Convention Against Torture? Having a loved one in immigration detention can be distressing. We are here to help.

The Center for Immigration Defense and Border Law ("CIDBL") is a private law office providing expert immigration services with integrity and compassion. We consult with our clients through remote video, we travel to detention centers throughout the United States, and we continue representation when they are moved to other facilities or are released from detention.

CIDBL can represent your loved ones for parole, bond, bond appeals, credible fear interviews, appeals of negative credible fear interviews, and in removal proceedings to request asylum and withholding of removal. We also help with your Temporary Protected Status ("TPS") applications, work authorization applications, Adjustment of Status, and family petitions.

Most importantly, we are the middle-way between non-profits who often have long wait lists and expensive law firms. CIDBL provides low bono, sliding scale, or reasonable fixed rate costs, depending on your circumstances.

REMOVAL DEFENSE

If you are seeking relief, including asylum and withholding of removal, we can represent you in court.

CREDIBLE FEAR INTERVIEWS

Most individuals in detention will receive a credible fear interview by an asylum officer. An attorney may often be at this interview to advocate for you.

PAROLE REQUESTS

We work with sponsors to request release on parole with ICE.

BIA APPEALS

If a Judge denies your application for relief, you may be able to appeal the decision to the Board of Immigration Appeals.

BOND HEARINGS

If you are in detention, you may be able to ask the immigration judge for your release on bond.

ADJUSTMENT OF STATUS

If you have been granted asylum, after one year of residence, you may adjust your status to legal permanent resident and receive a green card.

APPEALS OF NEGATIVE CREDIBLE FEAR DETERMINATIONS

If you have received a netagive credible fear determination, you have seven days to appeal to an immigration judge.

TEMPORARY PROTECTED STATUS

The Secretary of Homeland Security designates certain countries for TPS and we can help you with your application.
